Patio season is about to become official in uptown Waterloo. Restaurants, coffee shops, tea room s, bake shops and retail stores will soon be allowed to set up outdoor patios on public property, as long as they secure a licence through the city or region, depending on the road. Council's committee of the whole voted in favour of the zoning bylaw amendment April 3. Previously, uptown's bylaw was silent on outdoor patios, although businesses were creating informal versions on private property. Soon, they can extend right up to the roadway. "With the LRT and resulting large sidewalks, we see more potential for patios in uptown," said Joel Cotter, planning approvals director. City staff are in the final stages of deciding the licence agreement. Overview This instructable will use three photoresistors (light dependent resistors) and an Arduino to control the motion of a robot. Any common robot chassis can be used for the robot.
